As a journalist, public relations executive and just a regular consumer, Matt Derrick has had the opportunity to experience all sides in the world of public relations and marketing.

Derrick_Matt_120x144Matt founded Revved Up Media as a way to bring the principles of public relations, social media and marketing used by the biggest companies to entrepreneurs, small business owners and association leaders. Through building a communications strategy, developing engaging content and connecting with consumers and clients, Matt believes businesses and organizations can grow revenue, streamline operations and open new avenues for growth.

Matt started his career in media the day after his high school graduation, turning an unpaid summer internship into a full-time position as a sales assistant and on-air talent for KTXR-FM in Springfield, Mo. While earning his Bachelor of Journalism degree at the University of Missouri, Matt served as a reporter at KBIA-FM and KOMU-TV in Columbia.

After working as a feature writer and special sections editor for Sun Newspapers in Overland Park, Kan., Matt joined the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City, rising to the role of staff vice president of public affairs. Under his leadership, the HBA won numerous honors for association newspaper and website design and provided public relations for the nation’s second-largest housing tour and one of the nation’s top ten home shows.¬†Matt joined Time Warner Cable in 2009 as communications manager for the Kansas City region and was later promoted to director communications for the Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska regions where he oversaw public relations for the company and Time Warner Cable Metro Sports.

Today as president and founder of Revved Up Media, Matt brings his experience as a journalist, public relations pro and marketing consultant to business and organizations ready to “rev up” their marketing!
